CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
Children & Youth Sunday School (9:30)
Live B.I.G. -“Belief in God” (Two classes: K-2nd Grades; 3-5th Grades): Our theme for February: “Stories About Jesus”. Our B.I.G. Idea for February is: We believe that the stories that Jesus told help us to know how to live. This Sunday our children will hear a story about a woman who searched for a lost coin. They will realize that we are all important to God.
Youth Sunday School – “We Believe: Faith Questions” Faith Questions mini-courses respond to real faith questions posed by Presbyterian youth from across the denomination. Each study encourages young people to look to Scripture, as well as our faith traditions, in relevant and responsive ways. Each session engages a faith question through meaningful and well-balanced learning activities.
Adult Sunday School (9:30)
Life Lessons Class: Join us for NOOMA (from the Greek word, pneuma, which means,” spirit”), using video clips to spark discussions about everyday life and the message of Jesus (eg., Why can’t we always have what we want? Why is silence so hard to deal with?). We follow the “method” of Jesus, using short, simple stories to encourage us to search, question, and join the discussion.
Bible Journey Class: Our Bible Journey Class is taking a journey through the entire Bible! Join us, at any point along this journey, to explore God’s Word, to walk more closely with Him, walking now through 1 Kings. (Facilitated by Fred Lowrance) Next Sunday: “The Weakness In Wisdom”
Small Groups
Bible Basics – Led by the Band - Everyone welcome: Every Friday (7:30). Crave, by Erwin McManus. Crave contends that all of our soul cravings can be traced to three distinct areas of longing: intimacy, destiny, meaning. We explore whether a healthier, more God-honoring examination of our soul cravings will contribute to a life more alive and healthy. (In homes – Jenn Hammond, coordinator)
Discovery - Every Wednesday (7:30): The Tender Warrior: The Life of David, by David Jeremiah. The life of David appeals to us because we can identify with his struggles. We will explore David’s victory over Goliath; the high cost for his success; how he treated people; his mistakes; his darkest days. (At church – Gary Lichtfeldt, facilitator; John Morris, coordinator)
EPIC (Encouraging People in Christ)- 1st and 3rd Thursday (6:30): The Ragamuffin Gospel, by Brennan Manning.“Most of us believe in God’s grace—in theory. But we so often see Him as a small-minded bookkeeper, tallying our failures and successes on a score sheet. Yet God gives us His grace. We come to Him as ragamuffins—dirty, bedraggled, and beat-up. And when we sit at His feet, He smiles upon us, the chosen objects of His ‘Furious love’. Brennan Manning’s now classic meditation on grace and what it takes to access it—simple honesty—has changed thousands of lives.” (Linda Dwyer, coordinator)
M/3 Meadowlake Men’s Ministry: Sharing, Seeking, Serving. – A Meadowlake Men’s Ministry has been formed by a group of men of this church. We meet at 1:00 the fourth Wednesday of each month for sharing our life journeys; seeking Jesus’ guidance for our lives and for the lives of our families and this church Family; and serving those who need us wherever God puts us, wherever Jesus calls us. We look forward to what Jesus will do in and through the lives of our men, as we come together to be transformed by his love! If you would like to be part of this Ministry, contact Pastor Fred.
“The New Group” - (Official name coming soon) Beginning March 4, Sunday (9:30) at Church. We will be exploring The Five Love Languages, by Gary Chapman – a guide to identifying how the people in your life (spouse, children, friends) receive love and how you can give love. (Linda Dwyer, coordinator)
Reasoning For Believing- February 26th. (6:00) We will be attempting to answer misgivings and discuss red herrings, miracles and the laws of nature. To go further is not strictly necessary. If we confused you, you’ll fit right in. Contact John Colberg at jcolberg@gmail.com.
