CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

Children & Youth Sunday School (9:30)

Live B.I.G. -“Belief in God” (Two classes: K-2nd Grades; 3-5th Grades): Our theme for May: “Stones of the Spirit”. Our B.I.G. Idea for May is: We believe that stories of the Spirit promise us that the Holy Spirit is present in our lives. Our Bible Verse is “The fruit o the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” Galatians 5:22-23. This Sunday our children will hear that we are different when the Holy Spirit is in our lives. They will hear that faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control show that the Holy Spirit is in their lives, and they will have the opportunity to explore and practice faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Youth Sunday School – “We Believe:  Faith Questions”   Faith Questions mini-courses respond to real faith questions posed by Presbyterian youth from across the denomination. Each study encourages young people to look to Scripture, as well as our faith traditions, in relevant and responsive ways. Each session engages a faith question through meaningful and well-balanced learning activities.

Adult Sunday School (9:30)

Bible Journey Class: Our Bible Journey Class is taking a journey through the entire Bible!  Join us, at any point along this journey, to explore God’s Word, to walk more closely with Him, walking now through Job.  (Facilitated by Fred Lowrance)  Next Sunday:

Small Groups

Bible Basics – Led by the Band - Every Friday (7:30).  We are starting a new study:  Courageous Living based on the move Courageous.  God is calling us to fight for our faith and for our families. He is calling us to follow Christ and live a life that is Courageous.  (In homes – Jenn Hammond, coordinator)

Discovery - Every Wednesday (7:30):  The Tender Warrior: The Life of David,  by David Jeremiah.  The life of David appeals to us because we can identify with his struggles. We will explore David’s victory over Goliath; the high cost for his success; how he treated people; his mistakes; his darkest days. (At church – Gary Lichtfeldt, facilitator; John Morris, coordinator)

EPIC (Encouraging People in Christ) - 1st and 3rd Thursday (6:30): NOOMA Jesus lived with the awareness that God is doing something, right here, right now, and anybody can be a part of it. He encouraged his listeners to search, to question, to wrestle with the implications of what he was saying and doing. He inspired, challenged, provoked, comforted, and invited people to be open to God’s work in this world. Wherever he went, whatever he did, Jesus started discussions about what matters most, because for Jesus, God is always inviting us to open our eyes and join in. NOOMA is a series of short films that explore our world from a perspective of Jesus. NOOMA is an invitation to search, question, and join the discussion.  (At Church – Linda Dwyer, coordinator)

Legacy -  Every Sunday (9:30) We are completeing The Five Love Languages, by Gary Chapman – a guide to identifying how the people in your life (spouse, children, friends) receive love and how you can give love. (At Church – Linda Dwyer, coordinator)

M/3 Meadowlake Men’s Ministry -  Sharing, Seeking, Serving.  – A Meadowlake Men’s Ministry has been formed by a group of men of this church. We meet at 1:00 the fourth Wednesday of each month for sharing our life journeys; seeking Jesus’ guidance for our lives and for the lives of our families and this church Family; and serving those who need us wherever God puts us, wherever Jesus calls us. We look forward to what Jesus will do in and through the lives of our men, as we come together to be transformed by his love! If you would like to be part of this Ministry, contact Pastor Fred.

Reasoning For Believing -  (6:00)   We just started a new book entitled The Language of God: A Scientist Presents Evidence for Belief.   The author is the former head of the Human Genome Project.  Through this book he describes his faith and his conversion from atheism driven in part through scientific reasoning and evidence. We are interested in and respectful of each other’s opinions, so please join us if this sounds interesting. (At Church – John Colberg, coordinator)
