Small Groups

Discovery

Every Wednesday (7:30): Growing Older and Wiser by Dale and Sandy Larsen. You can’t change the fact that you are getting older. (And, indeed, you may not want to.) Age brings many gifts, opportunities and challenges for continued growth. In nine study lessons the Larsons help you discover the Bible’s perspective on aging. One theme emphasized is the need for the generations to glean wisdom from one another (young to older and vice versa). The booklet uses examples from the Old as well as the New Testament to illustrate how characters demonstrate both wisdom and folly as our recent story of King David reveals. The booklets chooses some lesser studied passages as well as Moses, Paul and others. (At church – Gary Lichtfeldt, facilitator; John Morris, coordinator)

EPIC (Encouraging People in Christ)

1st and 3rd Thursday – (6:15): A New Kind of Christian, Book 1 (A Tale of Two Friends on a Spiritual Journey), by Brian D McLaren. A New Kind of Christian’s conversation between a pastor and his daughter’s high school science teacher reveals that wisdom for life’s most pressing spiritual questions can come from the most unlikely sources. This stirring fable captures a new spirit of Christianity–where personal, daily interaction with God is more important than institutional church structures, where faith is more about a way of life than a system of belief, where being authentically good is more important than being doctrinally “right,” and where one’s direction is more important than one’s present location. (At Church – Linda Dwyer, coordinator)

M/3 Meadowlake Men’s Ministry

Sharing, Seeking, Serving. – A Meadowlake Men’s Ministry has been formed by a group of men of this church. We meet at 1:00 the fourth Wednesday of each month for sharing our life journeys; seeking Jesus’ guidance for our lives and for the lives of our families and this church Family; and serving those who need us wherever God puts us, wherever Jesus calls us. We look forward to what Jesus will do in and through the lives of our men, as we come together to be transformed by his love! If you would like to be part of this Ministry, contact Pastor Fred.

Reasoning For Believing

(6:00) – The Screwtape Letters by CS Lewis, a series of letters from a senior demon (Screwtape) to his nephew (Wormwood) giving detailed advice on various methods of undermining faith and promoting sin, interspersed with observations on human nature and Christian doctrine. (At Church – John Colberg, coordinator)
