As an Outreach ministry, we use God’s Scripture to guide our work.
Romans 12:9-13
Love in Action
9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
Meadowlake Church has many Outreach Ministries to serve those in our community and to put God’s words of love into action. These ministries include:
God’s Garden: Garden plots are offered to members of the congregation to tend to. At least ten percent of their harvest is donated to the Angels and Sparrows Soup Kitchen serving the Lake Norman area. Coordinator is Jeff Parker.
Barium Springs Reading Ministry: Quarterly visits are made to Barium Springs Home for Children to read to and visit with residents. Coordinator is Lessie Phillips.
Lake Norman Free Clinic: Volunteer opportunities through Meadowlake for the local free clinic in clerical or clinical capacity. Coordinator is Angela Parker.
Love Inc. Caring Teams: Love Inc is a local agency whose mission is to “mobilize area churches to reach out to a hurting and needy world in the Name of Love of Christ.” At Meadowlake, small groups are formed to help individuals with simple needs, such as transportation to medical appointments or household chores, and for fellowship. Coordinator is Karen Munson.
Love Inc. Handy Hands Ministry: An offshoot of Love Inc., this ministry is focused on doing light household repairs and projects for the needy in community. Examples would include, light plumbing, yard work, painting, or household organization. Coordinators are Michael and Julie Youngblood.
Room in the Inn: In partnership with the Urban Ministry Center, Meadowlake provides food and shelter for the homeless of Charlotte for specified days during the winter months. We provide a warm, safe place to sleep, provide three meals, and fellowship for these needy individuals. The program is a unique way for people of faith to become directly involved with people who are homeless. The simple goal is to keep our homeless friends safe and warm on cold winter nights. A greater goal is to provide a more personal relationship to homeless people, at least for a night, and a deeper understanding of the depth and complexity of the issue. Coordinators are Alan and Anne Ross.
Operation Christmas Child: Meadowlake participates in this ministry in partnership with Samaritan’s Purse, to provide shoeboxes full of Christmas gifts for needy children in impoverished parts of the world. We collect these donations through our congregation and participate in the inspection and preparation for shipment process at the Samaritan’s Purse processing center. Coordinator is Eleanor Chamness.
Center of Hope: Meadowlake partners with the Charlotte Salvation Army to provide lodging and meals for a group of homeless women for a week in the summer at Meadowlake Church.
Our Outreach Ministry at Meadowlake is always looking to grow and there are multiple opportunities for individuals and families looking to grow closer to the Lord through serving others. If you are interested in participating in any of these ministries please speak to the respective coordinators, Patsy Nesbitt, or Jim D’Amico.
