Trust In God – To Be Your God

Notes From Fred

Last Sunday, we talked about turning aside from our busy lives to reach out to the people around us. Our children, led by Ina Lane and Jenn Hammond, did just that this afternoon – singing “I Am A Promise” to the residents of the Olde Knox Nursing home, lifting spirits, and staying to talk with the residents. As Ina said, it was a win-win. And more than that, our children set an example for us all!

And this next week, some of us are turning aside to connect and grow in our relationship with the residents of East Huntersville – another win-win!

Trust in God – To Be Your God

Exodus 7-10 excerpts

As you read and pray about the Scripture for this week, discuss it with someone else, and  answer these questions:

  1. What specific words seem to be speaking to you, and why do those words  “stand out” for you?
  2. As Moses turned aside, God led him and his family to Egypt. Our Scripture for Sunday shows us what happened, and shows us two choices for our lives: To be like Moses and let God be the guide of our lives, despite the challenges; or to be like Pharaoh, harden our hearts to God, and suffer the inevitable consequences. Is there anything in your life that is hardened to what God wants for your life? If so, ask God to help you listen to His warnings, to soften your heart, and to let Him come in to be your God.
  3. What would you like to understand better after Sunday?

Let me know about your preparation—and to what extent the sermon connected to your life.
