Trust in God – To Turn Aside

Exodus 2:23-25; 3:1-12, 4:10-17

As you read and pray about the Scripture for this week, discuss it with someone else, and  answer these questions:

  1. What specific words seem to be speaking to you, and why do those words  “stand out” for you?
  2. God continues to bring us together to be transformed by bringing us together with Moses and his trust in God. Our Scripture shows us Moses growing in his trust by turning aside from his routine to respond to God’s call to go and free his brothers and sisters, to change their crying into celebrating. Moses does not go easily; he begins with the usual excuses; but ultimately goes when God convinces him that He will go with him…. Is there some way that God wants you to turn aside to set someone/someones around you free from some condition in their life that is holding them back from living the free and celebration-filled life that God wants for them? What would it take to enable you to turn aside and go?
  3. What would you like to understand better after Sunday?

Let me know about your preparation—and to what extent the sermon connected to your life.
